Molarity (M) is the number of moles of solute per liter of solution. M = moles / liters.
Moles = Mass (g) / Molar Mass (g/mol). For example, 36 g of NaCl (58.44 g/mol) = 0.616 mol.
A 1 molar (1 M) solution contains 1 mole of solute dissolved in enough solvent to make 1 liter of solution.
Molarity (M) = moles per liter of solution. Molality (m) = moles per kilogram of solvent. Molarity changes with temperature; molality does not.
