Scientific: a × 10ⁿ (1 ≤ |a| < 10)
Exponent = floor(log₁₀(|number|))
Coefficient = number ÷ 10^exponent
Scientific notation expresses numbers as a × 10ⁿ where 1 ≤ |a| < 10. Example: 4,500,000 = 4.5 × 10⁶.
Move the decimal point until one non-zero digit is to the left. Count the moves — that's your exponent.
E notation uses 'E' instead of '× 10^'. So 4.5E6 = 4.5 × 10⁶ = 4,500,000.
If exponent is positive, move decimal right. If negative, move decimal left by that many places.
