Naegele's Rule: Due Date = LMP + 280 days (40 weeks)
Adjusted for cycle length: LMP adjusted = LMP โ (cycle length โ 28) days
The standard Naegele's Rule: add 280 days (40 weeks) to the first day of your last menstrual period (LMP). This assumes a 28-day cycle with ovulation on day 14.
Only 5% of babies are born on their exact due date. About 80% are born within 2 weeks of the due date. Due dates are estimates, not guarantees.
Gestational age counts from LMP (last menstrual period). Conception age (fetal age) counts from fertilization, which is about 2 weeks later. Most doctors use gestational age.
An ultrasound can determine gestational age. Enter your conception date or ultrasound date instead to calculate your due date.
Full term is 39โ40 weeks. Early term is 37โ38 weeks. Late term is 41 weeks. Post-term is 42+ weeks.
